An
Initial Teisho Curriculum
for
Public Students
Compiled
by Ven. Mishin tando, June 12, 2004
The
recorded teisho library offers students a vast treasury of recorded Teachings
that may be borrowed or purchased for use in home practice. The library
contains many of the over 1,700 teisho, Dharma Talks and classes presented
by Zen Master Anzan Hoshin, as well as Dharma Talks and mondo presented
by Ven. Shikai Zuiko osho, Ven. Jinmyo Renge osho and practice advisors.
With so much to choose from, students often wonder
where to begin or what to listen to next. New students are advised to
start with Before Thinking: Foundations of Zen Practice . Although
by no means a comprehensive list, what follows is an initial teisho curriculum
which students can work their way through as part of developing an understanding
of practice and familiarizing themselves with the Teachings of the Buddhas
and Awakened Ancestors.
The first section lists the series that comprise the
teisho curriculum. The second section concerns the series Before Thinking:
Foundations of Zen Practice, and indicates which of the Dharma Talks
can be accessed as MP3 files on the Sound Site. A complete list detailing
which presentations in each series are available on the Sound Site is
being worked on, but will take some time to develop.
The list below can be copied and pasted into a Word file in which you
can keep an ongoing record of the teisho you have listened to. When you
wish to request a new series of tapes, send your list so that a recommendation
can be made. It is necessary to keep a list because with the number of
students requesting tapes, it would be impossible to keep track of what
you have listened to or not and so you need to take responsibility for
keeping an accurate record and sending it each time you submit a request.
Thank
you.
